DNA-based Superlattices and Nanocarriers

Hierarchically assembled lattices of AuNP-carrying origami rafts on membranes and in solution will be investigated with GSAXS, super-resoltuiont microscopy and electron microscopy. Ultimately, we intend to assemble and structurally analyze membrane-spanning DNA nanochannels in crystalline order and obtain insights in their functioning in surroundings that mimic natural membranes. In re-lated projects we plan to apply our recently developed SERS nanoantennas on artificial and on cel-lular membranes with the goal to perform SERS in crowded environments. Our DNA structures will further be improved to withstand degradation in biologically relevant environments enabling them to act as carriers for sugar moieties and immune stimulating agents.
